This year's ML Choirs consist of 5th Grade Choir, 6th Grade Choir, and 7th/8th Grade Combined Choir. Our repertoire contains literature spanning from "Na Na Na" by the sensational a cappella group Pentatonix, to "You Will Be Found" from the Tony-Award winning Musical Dear Evan Hansen, to "Et in Terra Pax" and "O Lux Beatissima," beautiful traditional Latin pieces, to selections from Moana and Trolls. We will also be exploring our voices in a piece called "Stomp Box," where will will use the human voice to imitate instruments by exploring different vocal colors and placement.
7th and 8th Grade students will once again have the opportunity to audition for All-State Chorus, which requires preparation of solo literature and sight-reading skills. Students interested in auditioning will work with Ms. Gamble on preparing the audition materials. Nine of the 7/8 Chorus represented The Galloway School at the 2017 All-State Chorus in Athens on February 23-24-25. The 7th and 8th Grade students have spent time composing original songs and presenting them to the class. All of the ML chorus students are actively involved in preparations for their spring concert which is on Thursday, May 4 at 7:00 in the Chaddick Theatre. The UL chorus will also be performing that evening. The concert will include a wide variety of repertoire.
Members of the 7/8 Chorus are in the process of preparing for their all-state chorus final auditions which will take place on Thursday, Jan. 19 at N. Springs High School starting at 5:00. Nine students will be participating in the auditions.
