About This Website On this website, you will be able to explore what's going on in each of Galloway's Middle Learning Arts programs. Each program (visual arts, dance, music, and theatre) has its own webpage, which you can find at the top of this page. If you hover your cursor over the program you wish to explore, a drop-down menu will appear and you will be able to select your desired grade level or subject. Clicking on the program name itself will take you to that program's general homepage. These pages contain faculty-written blog posts and multimedia content that will be updated throughout the school year. Through this website, you will be able to browse through projects and concepts that students are exploring. We hope you enjoy! The Arts at Galloway At the Galloway School we recognize the far-reaching influence of artistic expression. We believe in nurturing individual creativity while fostering connections across the disciplines. Every Galloway student participates in music, dance, theater, and the visual arts in their general classrooms as well as in classes specifically dedicated to the arts.
Galloway teachers recognize the multiplicity of ways students learn and express their understanding. The arts are used as a vehicle for teaching and assessment across content areas. From preschool children painting murals of the life cycle of the butterfly to high school students creating movie-trailers based on their study of the Cultural Revolution in China, Galloway students learn to draw upon their creativity in all areas of learning.
The Galloway School also recognizes the arts as disciplines to be studied as seriously as any other academic subject. Students learn the fundamental elements of the various art forms from professionals who lead them in hands-on experiences designed to teach the creative process from the conception of an idea to the final reflection following presentation.
