ONGOING:
Throughout the whole year, we will continue to strengthen the practice of being a theatrical ensemble. By working together, students will develop a common language and trust in the group. Each student will be responsible for contributing his or her own creative ideas to the group, and also responsible for supporting the group as a whole. Learning Objectives/Skills
Class Expectations /Agreement In this class, we will be using our bodies, our voices, and our minds. Please understand that this is an ACTING class and you will be expected to participate to the best of your ability. We will be creating a safe environment where we all feel comfortable performing and writing. We will be working as a team to build an ensemble and create a classroom agreement that will work for our class. Opportunities to see Live Theatre The best way for you to truly appreciate theatre is to see a live performance. Galloway offers several opportunities for this. Join us at our Galloway Productions. Our 6th grade Odyssey class learned some great improvisation skills while playing the theatre game, "Somebody Else's Hands." They were asked to become "experts" on a topic and were interviewed on that topic. The fun was making sure "their hands" matched what they were saying!
Our 5th grade Odyssey class this term is learning about basic acting skills and creating characters with both Ms. Marele and Ms. Cramer! Here they are playing an acting game called "Art Gallery," where they are using animal characters to create pieces of artwork.
6th Graders learned about basic theatre skills through Acting Exercises Theatre Games help us learn how to work as an ensemble and teach us specific skills related to the theatre.
